As a book, Capharnaum is a gorgeous artefact – beautiful and evocative artwork, and a profound and fascinating setting that riffs off historical and mythic themes to create a compelling game world. It also has a custom system which really hits our sweet spot: simple, elegant, and quick to learn, it’s also extremely flexible in play, and allows for some real depth with increasing system mastery. It’s been a sparkling gem on the French RPG scene for ten years, and has recently celebrated its decade with a second edition, and Mindjammer Press is proud to have the opportunity to bring it to an English-language audience.

In Capharnaum, you’ll find a fantasy Middle Sea surrounded by lands and empires reminiscent of mythical and historical ones of our own world, from ancient Agalanthia, a little like ancient Greece or Rome, through a Hispanic Aragon and its new Quarterian religion, the Shiradim of Capharnaum, and the Arabian-like Saabi. But the heart of the action starts in Jazirat, a peninsula similar to ancient Arabia, and coveted by all the world’s realms…

But your characters are above and outside these conflicts. The Mindjammer Player’s Guide and the Enhanced Commonality Space Schematic – OUT NOW!

We’re delighted to announce today the release of The Mindjammer Player’s Guide – Adventuring in the New Commonality of Humankind, a major new rules release for Mindjammer – The Roleplaying Game, from ENnie-award winning writer Sarah Newton (Mindjammer, Legends of Anglerre, Achtung! Cthulhu, Monsters & Magic).

The Mindjammer Player’s Guide is a book specifically for players of Mindjammer—The Roleplaying Game. It contains all the rules you need to play as a player, with complete character creation sequences, new genotypes and cultures, and a whole new octant of Commonality Space in which to set your character stories and adventures. It contains:

  • The essential Fate Core system, all the rules you need to create and play characters in the Mindjammer universe—including rules for creating and playing sentient starship characters!
  • Descriptions and histories of the New Commonality of Humankind.
  • New starmaps, homeworlds, and genotypes of Commonality Space.
  • Rules for the Mindscape and virtual worlds.

Note that while the Mindjammer Player’s Guide contains some new content, it also reiterates much of the material of the Mindjammer – The Roleplaying Game Core book. You don’t need the Player’s Guide if you already have that book – although your players may love a copy!

At the same time, we’re also releasing The Enhanced Commonality Space Schematic poster map, a gorgeous remastered and updated version of the New Commonality Schematic from the Mindjammer Core Book and Mindjammer Player’s Guide. Sarah Newton is going to be at the UK Games Expo this coming weekend, representing Mindjammer Press at the Modiphius booth. She will be arriving mid-morning on Saturday 4th June and will be there until the end of Sunday.

There will be hard copies of the Mindjammer RPG, Hearts and Minds, The City People, the Dominion Quickstart, and even the Mindjammer novel.

Mindjammer Press at the “Comédie Du Livre”, Montpellier, 28-29 May 2016

Sarah Newton of Mindjammer Press, author of Mindjammer, The Chronicles of Future Earth, Achtung Cthulhu, Legends of Anglerre, etc, will be a guest at the literary festival “La Comédie du Livre” in the beautiful French city of Montpellier this weekend, the 28-29 May 2016. She’ll be joining the writers and editors of Deadcrows Studio, publishers of the Capharnaum RPG and translators of the Mindjammer RPG into French, at the Stand Manoir (stand P5A). She’ll be demoing Mindjammer from 10am to 1pm Saturday and Sunday (sign up at the Deadcrows Studio stand), and will be signing books and chatting about Mindjammer, Capharnaum, and lots more at the stand each afternoon!
