ADVENTURE IN THE RUINS OF AN ALIEN WORLD

Blue. A beautiful yet alien world. Until six hundred years ago it was the home of an unimaginably advanced alien species, poised in splendid isolation on the brink of transcendence, refusing even to communicate with the lesser intelligences which had colonised its planetary twin. That’d be us—homo variens, the diverse and curious descendants of the colonists from Old Earth. Even our probes and telescopes were deflected, leaving us with tantalising glimpses of wonders beyond our ability to understand.

Then, six hundred years ago, the alien civilisation fell. Almost overnight: the lights on the surface of the planet Blue went out, the aliens’ structures seemed to dissolve, and the barrier which had protected them from prying eyes for millennia collapsed. But where had they all gone? Amid magnificent ruins we found devolved life forms, as confused and as uncomprehending as we.

None of us ever knew what had been lost. Until now. Now the Blues are back—and no one knows if even the Commonality can resist them. Let’s hope they want to be friends…

There’s been a murder on the fallen world of Blue, a planet of ragtag survivors and curious human colonists researching the remains of a near-transcendent alien civilisation. But the culprit is stranger than anyone had imagined; and, as factions manoeuvre for influence and control, a mystery is uncovered which threatens to change the Commonality forever!

BLUE includes:

  • Two whole alien worlds: maps, ecosystems, exointelligences, cultures, and more;
  • A multi-session adventure of intrigue, conspiracy, and mystery spanning an entire star system;
  • Secrets of the Commonality and the Mindjammer setting!

Buy your copy of BLUE today, in physical version + comp PDF copy, or in PDF-only version. The Commonality salutes you!

Announcing the Capharnaum RPG in English and the Mindjammer RPG in French!

Mindjammer-Deadcrows Studio

Mindjammer Press and Deadcrows Studio announce translation agreements for French-language MINDJAMMER and English-language CAPHARNAUM roleplaying games

Capharnaum-Mindjammer_press-release_image

20th May 2016—Mindjammer Press and Deadcrows Studio are delighted to announce their agreements to translate the CAPHARNAUM and MINDJAMMER roleplaying games into English and French respectively.

“The Capharnaum—The Mark of the Dragon RPG line is an absolutely beautiful series of game books focussed on an Arabian Nights-inspired setting with strong elements of ancient worlds mysteries, Crusades, and a Mediterranean fantasy ethos which I’ve loved for many years,” said Sarah Newton, director of Mindjammer Press (Mindjammer, The Chronicles of Future Earth, Monsters & Magic, Burn Shift, Achtung! Cthulhu). “It has the depth, detail, and sophisticated world-building which I love and which fans have come to expect from Mindjammer Press, and I’m proud to have this wonderful opportunity to bring the whole series to English-speaking gamers everywhere. At the same time, after our successful Mindjammer Kickstarter last December, it’s very exciting to have signed our first translation agreement to enable the great people at Deadcrows Studio to bring the Mindjammer RPG and fiction range to the French market. We’re looking forward to a very fertile and productive working relationship!”

“The Mindjammer roleplaying game is a pure transhumanist Space Opera offering unique and unusual adventuring opportunities, mixing exploration, discovery, intrigue, technology, cultural conflict, and epic combat. The richness of the Mindjammer setting opens infinite perspectives,” said Francois Cedelle of Deadcrows Studio (Capharnaum, Venzia, AmnesYa 2K51). “But it’s also a toolbox, permitting GMs to create and manage cultures, civilisations, planets, starships, and more. It contains everything you need to develop exciting and compelling scenarios in a coherent universe—and all driven by the fantastic FATE system.”

Mindjammer is already a magnificent game line, with a very complete core rulebook and a rich and beautifully illustrated line of supplements,” added Deadcrows Studio’s Stephan Barat. “We’re therefore particularly proud to announce that Mindjammer will be our first translated RPG, and we’re over the moon at the idea of working together with Sarah Newton and the whole Mindjammer Press team!”

Deadcrows Studio will be launching a crowdfunding campaign for the French-language version of Mindjammer in 2016, for publication in 2017. Mindjammer Press expects to release the Capharnaum RPG core book in early 2017, with a range of supplements to follow in 2017 and 2018.

Featuring sourcebooks, supplements, and adventures, as well as new fiction including the second and third novels in the Mindjammer trilogy, this marks a major step up for the award-winning game.

The first £5,000 goal of the Kickstarter is to fund THE CITY PEOPLE, an action-packed 80-page adventure of mystery and exploration on an alien world, featuring horror, thrills, and scientific discovery aboard the sentient Space Force explorer ship Magnanimous Intervention. Once this is funded we have lined up stretch goals including sourcebooks such as the Core Worlds and Venu, new adventures and fiction, and more surprises beyond.

“The time is right for a Mindjammer kickstarter,” said Sarah Newton (Mindjammer, Achtung! I have over a million words of source material written, and am very excited that we now have the opportunity to bring it to Mindjammer fans old and new.”

The Mindjammer line is co-published by Modiphius Entertainment, who are supporting Mindjammer Press with advice, marketing and logistics to help ensure the Kickstarter and its fulfilment are a success. “With our experience of running several major Kickstarters we’re well aware of how to help where it counts,” said Chris Birch, director of Modiphius Entertainment and leading light of such successful Kickstarters as Achtung! Cthulhu, Mutant Chronicles, and the recent Infinity RPG. “We’ve seen the Mindjammer line grow from the early days of Starblazer Adventures and now working together as Modiphius and Mindjammer Press it’s been great seeing the Commonality grow and grow with fans right across the world.”
